Toyota Automakers Make Cars and Share Expertise
The people who make Toyota cars are good at what they do. We see it every day here at Midtown Toyota, in amazing cars like the 2017 Toyota Camry and 2017 Toyota RAV4. But they are also good at sharing their knowledge and helping those in need, which is what folks from Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia (TMMWV) did when they teamed up with Facing Hunger Food Bank to help them operate more efficiently.
The team shared helpful methodology and best practices information with the food bank and the results were amazing — the food bank increased the efficiency of youth programs by an incredible 600 percent.
The automaker has a long history of lending a helping hand. For example, the Toyota Production System Support Center, Inc. (TSSC) has provided expertise and support in many industries and to many agencies all to help them gain efficiency and serve their local communities better.
“Better serving the community was the ultimate goal… It was incredibly rewarding to watch the food bank staff learn, grow and challenge their assumptions about how best to serve the community,” said Charles Jarrell, Training and Development Specialist at TMMWV.
“This just goes to show the things we do every day at the plant can be applied anywhere and make a dramatic impact,” added Jarrell.
Making cars is a big part of what Toyota does, but it’s not all the automaker does. The folks who make the cars we love continue to share their knowledge and best practices to make our communities better in many more ways.
